I commenced work in 1971 with a local authority building department in Derby, England as a building quantity surveyor. more… I started my professional quantity surveying career in 1975 moving to Sheffield to a regional health authority before emigrating to New Zealand in 1987 to join Rider Hunt.
In 1993 I secured a role with Brown & Associates and in 1996 became a director of the rebranded Brown & Quartermaine. In 2000 B&Q joined an international practice and became Page Kirkland NZ and in 2009 this was restructured back into the independent BQH

My expertise ranges from project feasibility analysis, life cycle modelling, cost planning and estimating, value management, tender procurement, evaluation and analysis, contract financial administration and finalisation. I have achieved an enviable track record of projects completed on budget.

When not at work I like to travel, socialise with friends and family and enjoy the movies & theatre

I commenced my career in 1994, as a cadet quantity surveyor at Brown & Associates in Wellington. more… In 1996 I transferred to the associated firm, Page Kirkland, in Sydney, where I was a quantity surveyor and then from 1998 a senior quantity surveyor until moving to their Dubai office as an associate in 2001. In 2007 I returned to New Zealand to be a director of Page Kirkland in Auckland, which was restructured into BQH in 2009.

My expertise ranges from budgeting and estimating to administration, engineer to the contract in NZS3910, expert witness and negotiation. I also teach measurement and estimating to degree students in Auckland.

When I’m not at work I like to spend time with my family – on the harbour or taking advantage of the many fantastic pastimes this country offers.

During the last year of my undergraduate study in South Africa, I worked as a candidate quantity surveyor for a small residential developer managing subcontractors. more… After graduating in 2006, I joined IBP Construction Consultants in Johannesburg as a junior quantity surveyor, and during this time, I completed my honours degree and obtained Membership status with the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. In 2011 I moved to CES Group to expand my knowledge in infrastructure and power generation. In 2016 our family made a move to New Zealand, where I joined BQH Limited.

From inception to final account stages I have experience in estimating, budgeting and cash flow, measurement, and general contract administration and advice. Contract experience includes NZS3910 and 3916.

On weekends I like to spend family time playing games during the colder months and cycling or hiking in the great outdoors in the summertime.

When I am not at work, I enjoy sailing with my family and gardening.

In 2019 I relocated to Auckland and joined BQH as an Associate.

My expertise ranges from estimating, budgeting and value engineering of projects to negotiating and agreeing variations throughout the construction phase of projects.

Outside of work, I enjoy cycling, hunting, fishing and golf which offers me great opportunities to indulge in the outdoors.

Returning to New Zealand I joined Page Kirkland in Auckland, which became BQH in 2009.

My expertise covers all aspects of quantity surveying including cost planning, estimating, contract procurement and post contract administration.

My leisure time is occupied with my wife, children and grandchildren but I do manage to squeeze in a game or two of squash each week.

My career commenced in South Africa in 1995, where, after completing my National Diploma in Building, I joined RH Rens & Associates as a candidate Quantity Surveyor. more… In 1999 I completed my BTech QS degree and became a co-principal in 2000, where the firms name was changed to Rens & Leonard. In early 2002 I became the sole member, up until 2008, where I then took on two partners and the firm was restructured into Poto Leonard & Moyce Quantity Surveyors (PLM). In 2020 I resigned as a director from PLM and relocated to NZ to join BQH as Regional Manager of their new Tauranga Office.

My general experience includes all facets of Quantity Surveying from inception through to final account and my expertise are considered to be estimating, financial reporting and contract administration.

If I’m not in the office you will either find me spending time with my wife and two daughters or on the ocean with a fishing rod in my hand.

My expertise includes all aspects of quantity surveying but I particularly enjoy pre-contract work and dispute resolution.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and frequently ski or snowboard trips during the winter.

In 2017, I relocated with my family to New Zealand and joined BQH to utilise my 20 years experience as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor.

My area of expertise are estimating, desktop feasibility studies, procurement and post contract administration. I have a proven track record of minimising the costs of a project and enhancing value for money, while still achieving the required standards of quality.

On completion, I transferred to a professional quantity surveying consultancy, Quantum, in Auckland. Immediately prior to joining BQH in 2018, I worked in one of New Zealand’s largest home building company, Mike Greer Homes Auckland Office.

My areas of expertise include budget preparation, estimating, cost planning, contract administration. I can fluently speak Mandarin and Cantonese.

In my spare time, I devote myself to yoga, including aerial yoga, hatha yoga, and pilates.

I began working as a Quantity Surveyor Intern for summer placement when I was studying for my quantity surveying undergraduate degree in the UK. After graduating in 2012, I moved to Brunei Darussalam and joined a local QS consultancy. In 2018, my partner and I made the decision to emigrate to New Zealand and I started working as a quantity surveyor for a boutique QS consultancy firm in Albany. more… Thereafter, I moved on to work for a larger city consultancy and specialised in bank funding projects. As a Senior Bank Funding QS, I worked closely with Developers and Project Financiers to review initial feasibility budgets, analyse project risks, review contracts and development agreements, development monitoring until settlement/completion. I joined BQH as an Associate in early 2024.

My expertise ranges from inception to final account including estimating, cost planning, schedule of quantities, procurement, contract administration, cost management and bank funding.

When I’m not at work I like to spend time with my young family and also doing Pilates, racquet sports and other outdoor games.

Then I joined a quantity surveying consultancy company in Auckland working as junior Quantity Surveyor for two years providing services on both commercial and residential projects with specific pre contract/post contract/construction experience. more… In 2021, I joined White Associates working as Bank Funding Quantity Surveyor where I gained experience in precondition funding report and drawdown report preparation, and during this time, I completed my bachelor’s degree in construction in 2022. After my maternity leave, in July 2023 I joined BQH Limited.

My areas of expertise include budget estimate, post contract administration, variations negotiations and financial reporting.

I enjoyed Pilates, hiking, camping and spending time with families when I am not at work.

In 2016, I began my career in the construction industry when I joined a private Building Consultant practice as an office manager and personal assistant. more… In mid 2018 I joined BQH as a cadet quantity surveyor and I have been developing my technical skills within a team of qualified and experienced colleagues since.

I have a range of experience in both pre-contract and post-contract work. I excel in estimating, procurement and the valuation of progress claims and variations. I have proven skills in administration and a solid understanding of the construction process from inception to completion.

During my downtime, I enjoy pottering around the garden and getting out amongst the breeze at one of Auckland’s many volcano top’s and bush walks.
